Seven Marathons in Seven States in Seven Days (AL, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA, WV)

I entered Mainly Marathons Appalachian Series. This allowed me to run a marathon a day in seven different states all within seven days. I already had Tennessee (but I wanted the whole series) but it got me six other states (AL, GA, SC, NC, VA and WV). My times weren't fast - I did most in the five hour block. After running all seven, I drove back home (loooong drive with two 3 hour nap breaks back to Houston). This was my first Mainly Series and all I can say is "WOW".
I finished my marathon in West Virginia to complete my goal of running 7 marathons in 7 states in 7 days. Legs are a bit tired.....yes, my shirt does read "Running Sucks" and, yes, I wore it for Day 1 and Day 7 of the series 🙂
Everything was well organized, rules and directions clear, courses very easy to follow, race support (staff and volunteers) awesome, and the other participants fantastic. I was fortunate to meet many people that were instantly friendly, engaging, and supportive. It was great meeting each of you and sharing miles (many) with you.
I think West Virginia brought my lifetime count to 55 marathons or longer finishes at that time.
I didn't set any personal bests or any Boston Qualifiers, but I finished them and that was my goal. My shoes gave out on my in the middle of marathon #7 but this Texas runner made do with some Lone Star runners.

I will definitely be keeping my eyes open on other Mainly series. On my drive between the Georgia and South Carolina races, I stopped at a roadside rest area (to find a geocache) and discovered an old cemetary....from the US Revolutionary War! It was a pretty special find.
