Last Annual Vol State 500k - My first rodeo
2024 was my first attempt (and finish) of the Last Annual Vol State 500k road race. This "report" is two years after the fact (and I will try to supplement it as time goes by). I really didn't know what to expect as my longest run before this was Badwater 135 (and it was about 15 years prior). I drove to Kimball, TN and attended the supper before the Last Supper at a China buffet. I got to meet other runners and see RD Laz again. I met my roommate for the next night Jim Halsy (a LAVS veteran). I spent the night at a local hotel (dump....but because the price is so cheap I stayed there again in 2026....and was reminded that it was and is a dump). The next morning, I followed Jim and others to the parking lot (also finish line) at a ranch where we would board the bus. We took the bus to Union City, TN.
