Texas Marathon
Ran my first Kingwood Texas Marathon on New Years Day 2026. Wasn’t sure how I’d do with finishes at Fort Worth, Shreveport Logjammer, and Biloxi Gulf Coast marathons within the prior seven weeks. But gave it a go. Course was a bike/hike path through wooded areas and along a neighborhood. Weather started a little cool (40’s) but got into the 50’s. The route is four out-and-back loops and, despite being “flat”, the rolling path does add up during the run. Anyway, ended up with not only my fastest run of my recent four marathons, I broke four hours with my fastest marathon in years. Volunteers and race organizers were great. Goodies included long sleeve shirt, hat, buff (at least that’s what I used it for), and finishers got a squishy star for stress relief and a dinner plate sized medal I really enjoyed this race.
