Strolling Jim 40 Miler (or so)
Drove down to TN from Indiana after attending my step-son's nursing college graduation. Check-in was easy and I saw some old friends such as RD Laz and my Barkley Marathons' Beech Tree co-searcher John Price. The race definitely had rolling hills, a couple challenging ones. But overall nice - levels off closer to the end. Weather was warm but not excessively hot. There were a few aid stations around - some put up by residents along the route (and they offered everything from beer to whiskey to fireball). I ran moistly on my own but in the last few miles kind of paired up with another runner as we chatted. I ended up going a little faster than he did the last couple of miles so actually stopped and waited for him to catch up so we crossed the finish line together. That's Tennessee for me thanks to the Strolling Jim finish that weekend. I honestly haven't counted how many marathons and marathon-plus races I have completed (will have to try that o...
